Overview

The Council, which owns the education estate, has vested responsibility for the management and development of the school estate in The Learning Trust. The Learning Trust property and capital development team are responsible for the delivery of the 5 year capital programme for Hackney schools, the development of the Primary Estate Strategy and the maintenance of the Asset Management Plan.

The environment within which school buildings and early years facilities are managed and operate has significantly changed in recent years. New initiatives such as Building Schools for the Future and the forthcoming Primary Capital Programme will introduce changes in the way school buildings are development and maintained.

The delegation of building maintenance and the introduction of devolved formula capital provides schools with a much greater stake in the management of premises and schools now have to perform a range of statutory tasks. Greater demands are being placed on school buildings through the integration of Children’s services and promotion of extended services.

The Learning Trust property & capital development team has been restructured to take account of these changes and to provide support and guidance to schools in delivering their property responsibilities. This section sets out the main duties, responsibilities and services provided by the PCD team. For any queries please contact us on 020 8820 7381.

The property team is based on the third floor at the trust. Please see the contacts page below for further information on the team.
